Crosslink Leadership Information
Church Staff
Our leadership structure is as follows: Pastoral
Staff, Elders and Deacons. We believe this a very biblical model.
What they do:
I. Deacons—appointed to serve
II. Elders—appointed to
shepherd
Titus 1:5–11:
· Able to teach well. Guardians of doctrine
1 Peter 5:1–5:
· “The elders who are among you I exhort… Shepherd
the flock of God.”
· To shepherd the flock like Jesus did
Acts 20:28–35
· “Take heed to… all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit
has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God… for
I know this, after my departure savage wolves will come in among
you…”
· To protect the flock from savage wolves
1 Tim 3:1–7
· “If he doesn’t rule his own house
well, how will he take care of the church of God?”
· To rule the church in its affairs
He tells others to submit to them in 1 Peter 5:5;
Hebrews 13:17, “Obey
those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out
for your souls.”
· Experienced men, not subject to pride
Elders/bishops are primarily shepherds (poimene) whose job
is to…
· To teach
· To protect
· To lead and to rule

Congregation: Who has the last word?
3 things the congregation rules in:
o Deacons: Acts 6:3, “Brethren, seek out from among you seven men…”
o Discipline: Matthew 18:17, “And if he refuses to hear them, tell it
to the church. But if he refuses to hear even the church, let him be to you
like an unbeliever…”
2 Cor 2:6, “This punishment which was
inflicted by the majority is sufficient for such a man.”
o Doctrine: Galatians 1:2, 6, “To the churches in … I marvel that
you are turning away so soon from Him…”
